High standards…

Doesyourhighstandards

Boy, do I hear and see that a often – too often! How amazing, incredible and outstanding people keep themselves and their gifts from the world, because they set their standards so high, that the NEVER give themselves a chance.

And, don’t get me wrong – I’m crazy about high standards, especially when it comes to the cleaning of the deli or restaurant I’m at, or hotels for that matter. I don’t want to find hair or grease from the former guests in the bathroom or elsewhere. Or take that heart surgeon who operated on my youngest nephew when he was only 3 months old and ensured that he today doesn’t stop talking and asking questions from morning till night as a 6 year old do – loads of love to that surgeon and his standards.

Or my super, who gets up before the break of dawn to clear the pathways for snow, making sure no one trips and falls. All power to him as well.

It’s really QUITE OK for you to be having high standards, but where the ball breaks the chain is when you think (yup, think, because it’s very rare that we share what’s actually some quite insane thoughts, with the world) thoughts like…

Ok, I might have taken this training, and this training, and this class and this course and this workshop, but I just neeeeeeed XYZ and THEN! Then I’ll be ready… (not!)

    or

You’ve made numerous incredible recipes and posted them on your blog, but you never collect any of them into a nice e-book you actually can sell and make money off.

    or

hardly any (like me) formal education has and because of that of course cannot write a book, start a company or counsel others.

    or

If you never write, you know that blogpost or newsletter, or never post anything on the Social Medias.

    or

say out aloud what it is that you believe in, or stand for, because what won’t people think…

    or

if you never gather all of your practical knowledge and experience into amazing online products, because they just keep spinning around over and over in your head.

    or

maybe doing live workshops, is what you dream of creating.

    or

that idea to an amazing new product, which is going to make a huge difference for a lot of people that is just withering away inside your soul.

    or, or , or…

Please fill out the blanks.

If you during reading this has felt a knot in your stomach, let’s assume we’re on the right track – but don’t despair, because there is a way out!

First…

The “High standards” syndrome is in reality way more common than you think. Look around you – my claim is that most of us suffer from it to one degree or another in some area of our lives.

Because when we dive beneath the syndrome, only two things really hide:

LOVE

and

FEAR

Love because you have a calling, something you’re born to do – and something which very often is very confusing, because it doesn’t really make any sense to begin with.

and Fear, because whatever it is that you’re born to do, usually is a very special combination of things, something that no one else has done before in quite the samme manner. That triggers our reptile brain and biology – uhhh, stepping outside of the pack can be dangerous!

But what’s worse is doing NOTHING

But what’s even worse, is doing absolutely NOTHING, to not step forward, to not follow your calling – which you already know! It shows up as a gnawing discontent, as sadness, sorrow, as frustration and anger. How cool is it living with that?

Imagine if Thomas Edison, inventor of the lightbulb had said to himself “how braindead of me to imagine that I, MOI can create light in the dark” – where do you think we’d be?

or if Sara Blakely, who invented SPANX, you know those “keepeverythingtightandtogether” thingies ensuring that we look completely smooth in a tight dress, loved by milions of women worldwide, had canned her idea?

or if Greg Glassman, the inventor of CrossFit had said “hmm, combining conditioning with weightlifting, with gymnastics – to create a super efficient new form of training, naaahh nobody’s gonna buy that…”

or if Elizabeth Holmes, the youngest female billionaire (YES BILLIONAIRE – google her) in the world, had stayed in school (because that’s what you “do”) instead of dropping out and ending up revolutionising the way blood tests are done…

or if J.K. Rowlings had thought to herself “a book about an ordinary boy who’s really the greatest wizard in the world, that’s probably not going to sell…”. Same thing goes for E.L James, the author of the Fifty Shades books or for that matter what if Elizabeth Gilbert, the author of EAT, PRAY, LOVE hadn’t sold everything she owned to travel the world?

I.COULD.KEEP.GOING.ON.AND.ON.AND.ON

The issue with high standards are one of the reasons I’ve created “Heart & Soul Business Mastery”. I wanted to create a safe and sound place for you, with two tracks.

One personal development track where you through powerful transformational inner work clears out, cleans up and implements the loving mindset that’s the fertile soil for joy and happiness, no matter WHERE you are in your business. PLUS an external track with focus on production of content, and you stepping out in to the light completely, so we can see you.

Registration for the very first Heart & Soul Business Mastery BETA run will open soon, so keep an eye on your inbox. If you’re not on my list, you can sign up right here.

If you’re trapped by high standards, don’t despair – here’s the way out…

First

Start by recognising how you truly feel. You can only change what you accept. If you experience sadness, sorrow or anger, know that those are only pointers letting you know you’re off balance – to suppress them or trying to deny how you feel never leads to anything good.

Next

Do it right now!

I’m sure something’s already popped into you head. Something which has been left alone for a long time, something that brings up emotions like guilt, shame or bad conscience. Get it out of the way.

Write that blogpost and post it without any thought to commas, SEO or all of the other stuff we’re “supposed to do”.

Make that image for Instagram, Facebook or Google+. Record that sound recording for your freebie, or make that video for Youtube.

Whatever it is, that appears for you DO IT! – AND if you’re just about to throw up at the thought of sending it out into the world, and need a safe spot to land – send it me first then! I’d love to see it! My mail is hello @ mariasaraphina.com.

Then future

Create and implement the loving mindset which will form a base for all of you and what you do.

This is not something you can think your way into – it requires actual practice – and that practice can be something as crazy simple as setting your phone to ring once every hour.

When the alarm goes off, put your hand on your chest, take a deep breath and say out aloud (or internally if you’re surrounded by people) “I love you, you’re amazing, whole and complete just as you are” – and be persistent! There’s bonuspoints for you if you do it in front of a mirror, looking into your own eyes!

Do it every day and experience the re-awakening of your soul, who in turn will reward you with bubbles of happiness and joy stemming from your core.

And please let me know how you get on with it! Post your comments below.
